5 methods of purification

Water purification is the process of eliminating impurities or pollutants from polluted water to make it clean. Some Common ways of purifying water are:

Water must be boiled thoroughly and maintained in a clean, covered pot during this procedure. It is the most affordable and secure way of water filtration. Also, Microorganisms in the home system are easily killed. However, High boiling temperatures destroy water-soluble vitamins.

Decantation and sedimentation: Sedimentation is the process through which materials at the surface are removed by gravity. Decantation is a method of separating immiscible liquids and solids, such as suspension.

It is a typical water purification method with a low-cost technique for reducing settleable solids and microorganisms in water. Removal of settleable solids can lower turbidity and make the water more susceptible to other microbe-reduction procedures. But some water solids are not efficiently removed by settling and can be time-consuming.

Chlorination of water

The chlorination procedure involves adding chlorine into the water to destroy bacteria and purify them. Pregnant women, however, should be avoiding drinking chlorinated water as it may harm the health of the baby.Chlorine is a potent oxidizing agent. It kills many germs in the water itself.

SODIS (Solar Disinfection) procedure

Solar water disinfection system is a water purification method that uses solar energy in which contaminated water transparent containers are exposed to direct sunlight for at least 6-8 hours.

The basic idea behind solar disinfection is that germs are sensitive to light and heat. It is a simple and safe water purifying procedure. Compared to other water filtration techniques, this approach is more cost practical because it depends on locally accessible materials, plastic bottles, and sunshine. Only the drawback with this kind of procedure is that this procedure needs reasonably pure water and is very dependent on suitable temperature and weather conditions, particularly in areas with enough sun exposure.

Water Filtration

This technique involves eliminating hazardous pollutants from hard water by passing it through several types of equipment.

It also helps in reducing excessive amounts of mineral concentrations in water. Similarly, it is a popular method of water filtration.

It is pretty simple and basic to use. The flavor and odor of the water will improve, and the chlorine in the water will be removed. This procedure ensures that contaminants from hard water are removed.
